  • Exchange Server and Old Domain Relationship

    Hello people.

Here Am I with another problem.

When we are installing exchange in a new server with received this nice welcome

This shouldn't be a problem if this domain (TRICOM) was there.

This is our old domain, specifically our old NT 4 domain from which we migrate to a new one (TRICOMRD).

When we were installing Exchange the first time this problem arise but in that time the old domain was there, now we don't have that domain anymore.

So how can we procedure for this weird problem?.

    Regards

You either have the Active Directory connector installed somewhere, or someone has chosen to install everything in Exchange 2003 setup - which is not required. The prompt is looking for the Exchange 5.5 service account.

      I choose the first one.

But for example if the server that had Active Directory connector installed is dead how can I remove it.

      Do i have that option?

      Regards

You will have to manually remove all traces of that old machine from the domain. If you are trying to use the same machine name then don't, use a new machine name. That will probably mean hacking out of adsiedit.msc and possibly AD Sites and Services.

I thought there was a MS KB article on the process, but I cannot find it.
