  • Extract mailbox out from unbootable box

    Hello guys,

I have an exchange 2003 enterprise box, just dead on me (cannot boot up - try so many times - could not get it up), so I manage to have another one up and running for the time being. I want to retrieve mailbox from the dead box (DB still good I assume, all logs are there). my question is "How can i extract those mailboxes?" please give me ideas or suggestions, steps. I will be really appreciated.

    Thanks.
    PD

This might be your only option and it's likely to be expensive:

There is nothing else that I am aware of that will do what you want. If there was a Windows utility On Track wouldn't be able to get away with charging as much as they do.

Otherwise you are looking at a disaster recovery. If the domain is intact and you haven't used the same name as the old server for the replacement then you could do a disaster recovery installation and try and mount the databases in to the DR install. However if you used the same name you made that impossible to do.
Another option would be to see if the databases will mount in to an RSG.

That is of course presuming that you can get the data off, by some kind of boot disk or mounting the hard disks in another chassis.
