I can not received incoming messages from outside our domain

  • I can not received incoming messages from outside our domain

    I appreciate your cooperate, I'm having a problem with our Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server system Windows 2000 Server. I had Srever mail , the problem is I can not received incoming messages from outside our domain, but the messages from inside our domain are received and the outgoing messages working good. And there are nothing messages on the queue.

    What can I do to solve this problem?

    Has this ever worked?
    Have you setup your email domain in Excahnge, allowed port 25 inbound and setup your MX record for your domain?

      Yes I did all your mentioned but still we can not received any messages from outside our domain, we received messages only from inside our domain !!!

          is the SMTP service running?

          from an outside of your LAN PC do the following:
          nslookup
          set q=mx
          yourdomain.com

          is there a valid mx specified? if there is:
          telnet mx.yourdomain.com 25


          is there any output?

            You didn't answer the first question - has it ever worked?
            There is a difference between whether it has never worked or has worked in the past and has recently stopped.

            For example, if it has never worked then it might be that port 25 from the internet is blocked by your ISP, or you haven't setup the DNS correctly. If it has worked in the past though, that means something has changed.

            A forum isn't really a good option for urgent questions. If you have a problem which means you are down then you should call Microsoft support and pay their fee. On a forum you are limited by the free time that others have to contribute.
