  • How can I implment Anonymous Posting as was in Exchange 5.5?

In Exchange 5.5 there was a procedure to implement anonymous posting.

That feature enabled the anonymous posting of discussion items into a public folder.

This way you could implement kind of a "Complaints Box" where employees could post issues that bothered them without having to disclose their names.

This feature dissapeared in exchange 2000 and onwards.

Is there a way to do that in Exchange 2003 and later?

I am not aware of any way of doing similar in Exchange 200x. There is no concept of anonymous messages in Exchange 200x - even messages coming from outside are authenticated via the anonymous account.

The usual method that is suggested is a web page that the user completes which sends the results to a public folder.

Thank you. Thats a good idea. It should be quite simple to implement such a page on SharePoint I would think.

If anyone else has insights I would be happy to get them as well.

      Thanks,
      Savi

I'm not quite sure I understand what you are asking and what Simon is saying. In Exchange 2003 I can set up a mail-enabled public folder, set the Anonymous and Default roles to Contributor and then anyone can send an email (post a message) to this public folder.

If the folder is not mail-enabled internal users can still post to the public folder via the Anonymous and Default roles by browsing the PF tree to the folder and selecting New| Post from the file menu in outlook.

Am I totally missing something here?

What the user is looking for (if I have read the question correctly) is the ability to post/email an address anonymously so that the source cannot be seen. If you create a folder in the way that you have outlined then the person who sent the message will be identified as they will be an authenticated user.
