  • Problem with recipient policies

I seem to have a problem with the recipient policy on our exchange server where it doesn't want to apply to one particular user. The policy is configured to apply %g.%[email protected] and the check box (automatically update e-mail addresses based on recipient policy) on the e-mail addresses tab for the user is checked.

The filter in the default recipient policy is set to:

(mailnickname=*) - this should include everyone shouldn't it?

I've manually applied the RUS and this makes no difference, I've deleted the mailbox and re-created it but this doesn't seem to fix it.

I've created a policy that just applies to the user I am having problems with and applied that, it made no difference.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

    Adam.

What does the event viewer say?

Event Viewer is not saying a lot. There are no errors or warnings.

Did you recreate the actual account rather than just the mailbox? My instinct says this is a problem with the account in the domain rather than Exchange. AD issues are usually fixed only by removing the account - although I tend to create a new account and move everything across to the new account from the old one and forward the account in Exchange. Causes less disruption that way.

I haven't recreated the account, but I have noticed that changes in general are not being applied to other users. We have a multi-domain forest, the exchange server is a member of the root forest domain, most users exist in a child domain.

Does there need to be a recipient policy for the child domain?

You need to have a Recipient Update Service (or RUS) for the child domain (and also one for the parent domain and one for the Enterprise).
