  • Recovering a >17Gb Exchange 2000 Database

    Hi,

Can anyone suggest a way of removing Mail (or mailboxes) from an offline Exchange 2000 database. The internal IT bods of a company I help with 3rd party support for decided to adjust the reg setting to allow a 17Gb database without stopping SMTP.

Now the store has filled up and unmounted at 17gb and won't remount long enough to remove anything to shrink the database prior to doing an offline defragment. I'm almost certain that without buying Exchange 2003 they're well and truly stuffed but would appreciate any suggestions on the subject.

    Cheers

    Havelock

Why don't you try doing an offline defrag anyway and see if it reduces the size at all. If that doesn't help, check out this link: http://www.ontrackdatarecovery.com/email-recovery/

It's probably expensive but it may be your only choice.
