  • Public Folders HTTP 500 error OWA only [searched]

I was toying around in IIS 6.0 yesterday on our Windows Server Standard 2003 Exchange (2003) server and somehow the Public folder has stopped working for Over the Web Access. It works fine within outlook but when users try to access via web it doesnt work. They can access their email without a hitch.

We have a completely separate exchange 2003 server and I verified that the Public under Default Web Site, is set up to match. I have a feeling something has gotten corrupt and I have the

    - path set to. \\.\BackOfficeStorage\\Public Folders (directory located on this computer)

    - All items are checked.

    - No application settings enabled and Execute Permissions is set to NONE

    - I didnt mess with user permissions and we know they work because Outlook clients can access it fine. I have anonymous access enabled and the username is IUSR_F1NCZ81 and i've tried turning it off, no difference.

    - I have Integrated Windows Authentication checked under Directory Security
    - I have Basic Authentication checked under Directory Security

Reset the virtual directories to begin with.

Be very careful with IIS on an Exchange server, otherwise you can break it very easily.
