  • exchange server address?

    new to exchange 2003.
I'm trying to configure the email client (outlook) but it fails to find the exchange server details/configuration when I enter an email address (I can access the email account via OWA)

So when I manually try to configure it, what would the address of my exchange server be?

    Re: exchange server address?

    %servername%.%Domainname%.%Suffix%
    Example: Exchangeserver.domain.local
    [Powershell]
    Start-DayDream
    Set-Location Malibu Beach
    Get-Drink
    Lay-Back
    Start-Sleep
    ....
    Wake-Up!
    Resume-Service
    Write-Warning
    [/Powershell]

      Re: exchange server address?

Thanks but my server is located somewhere else and has a domain name called say website.co.uk

the DNS suffix/name on that DC is website.local

the exchange server name I believe is "spapps" (this is what it shows in the exchange management console/system manager)

what would the server address be in that case because doman.local won't quite work for my outlook clients, since the server is hosted elsewhere out there on the net...

Euh, i do not think that an axchange server would be available on the internet using a MAPI/RPC protocol. I really think you need to check your information to see what they provide. Most provide POP3 access. If this is the case, you'll need to configure and POP3 account and not an Exchange server account.

Consult your documentation for incomming and outgoing mailserver.

It could be that it provides RPC over HTTP, if that is the case than check out http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/outlookrpchttp.html

If you are using a hosted Exchange provider then they should have provided you with either configuration instructions or a configuration file to setup Outlook for you.

It will be the RPC over HTTPS instructions, but you will have to enter specific server details.
