  • OWA Password Expiration

    Exchange 2003, 2003 Domain.

I have multiple remote users that don't log into the domain, but use OWA as their only email access. The problem I'm seeing is that when their passwords are close to expiration, they either don't see the password expiration banner at the top of the screen when they log in to OWA, or they are ignoring it. Is there any way to get a window to pop up and notify them that their password is going to expire rather than just the banner at the top?

    Thanks

    Re: OWA Password Expiration

I'm not overly familiar with 2003 (we are currently using 2K, in the process of migrating to 2K7); but potentially they may have a pop-up blocker enabled that causes a window to not display? In 2K, it's just a banner. There are no settings for a dialog box to display.

This may not be how you want to deal with this issue but you can use a script such as one found at the link below to send emails to the user when their password is about to expire. It can be used for all users and also looks like you can tweak it down so that only a group of external users will get the emails.

      Hope this helps.

This may be worth looking at. It changes the entire screen so a user has to change the password.
