  • Need a manual on setting up Exchange 2003 for multiple companies on a single server

    Hi,

I urgently need a step by step manual on setting up Exchange 2003 for multiple companies on a single server. The companies may not see each other. (Hosting model)
I already set it up, but still problems remain on Exchange Webmail.
Company are seeing each other in Webmail address list. Outlook is going ok.

    thanks

I have read this manual many times, but this is not fixing my problem in the Outlook Web environment where a user sees all other users.

Have you removed the Everyone and Authenticated Users groups from the security tab of the Default GAL?

Yes, only Administrator, Domain Admin and System has rights there.

This is the last thing that Microsoft wrote on the process: http://web.archive.org/web/200411210...px?kbid=822940

However that is no longer supported. With Exchange 2003 the only supported method is to use HMC from Microsoft. Any reason you aren't using that?

This blog post should answer questions on the supported options, and the post that it links to:

Looks like the wayback machine is having problems again.

HMC is Microsoft's hosting solution. You can get it from Microsoft within their Hosting web site.

                  Thanks,

But i dont want a hosting solution, the server is shared (inhouse). Can't it work in the traditional way?

If you want to segregate the address list then that is the only supported method. There is no "traditional way" - the only way is to use the HMC. If you try to do anything else and then call Microsoft they may not support you or ask you to put it back to the default configuration or ask you to prove the problem exists without the address list segregation. You may not like it, but that is how it has to be done now.
