  • Managing "Rules and Alerts" / changing default size

so i have a user... she complains that she has 25 rules and she cannot create more.

as i understand it, you have no limits on the number of rules you can have, only a limit on the size of the rules... 32k by default.

    the 3 workarounds listed were:
reduce the size of the rule-set.
shorten the name of the rules.
    combine rules to save space.

well, what if i cant do that? is there any way i can increase the default to allow more rules? i have no need for this many rules, but the person this is affecting is an admin and she would like more rules...

There is no way to change the size of the rules. It is a hard limit in Exchange 2000/2003. It is something to do with a packet size.
The only way to get more rules is to upgrade to Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007.

thats something i never thought about... being limited by the RPC max.

well, now i know the why...

i have looked at this chicks rules and its really ridiculous... every user has a folder with their name on it, and every time an email comes in its placed into their folder.

a little OCD if you ask me. the chick has a total of 110 folders...

shes another one of those people that finds comfort in seeing 16,945 items in her inbox (literally... she has 16,945 items in her box)

i cant wait till the policy deletes all her crap.

come on mailbox manager, do your stuff!
