  • Need to Add 4 additional public domain names to sbs2003 exchange

    Here's my dilema:

Have existing SBS2003 and for this discussion, the FQDN is: Zeus.com

Our Public Domain name on the Internet is: zeus.com

We have just purchased zeus.net, zeus.us, zeus.mobi and zeus.org with the registrar, Go Daddy. They have setup the MX records exactly like our original zeus.com and they resolve to our public IP address correctly.

I have added all of the new domain names into our "Default Recipient Policy" and placed a check next to each one and applied.

I then used the Recipient Update services and run an "update now" on both entries.

I have even performed a restart of the server.

When I sign into outlook locally and send email to any of the new domain names: [email protected] etc...it is successful, but if I send email from the outside world I get nothing. I don't even see a record of the outside emails in the exchange logs.

I have spent my weekend with this and hope it is something simple.

    Please Help.

    Thanks in Advance.

First - if you are going to use dummy domain names then you should make it clear that they are dummy names so that people don't check the names that you have stated.
If those are the valid domain names then everyone of them has different MX records.

The first thing you have to check is what the Internet can see for the MX records, whether they exist etc. You can use various online nslookup tools to do that. dnsstuff.com, mxtoolbox etc.

Depending on how long ago the domains were registered and the MX records changed, the Internet may not see the changes yet. it can take a while to propagate - 48 hours is the usual rule of thumb.
