  • Addition of Internet Domain

Company has AD setup with internal name and has registered an internet domain.

They want to be able to send/receive mail through exchange with the internet domain but still use the internal domain for their inside mail. How do I need to set this up in AD?

    Thanks,

    Todd

    Re: Addition of Internet Domain

    Nothing needed in AD

In Exchange, add a Recipient Policy for the Internet Domain with the address specified

Leave the AD domain in the policy and set the internet address as the default

Just to follow up on this... you would have to leave the internal domain in recipient policy anyway, as that is used by Exchange internally. If you try and remove it then certain parts of Exchange would stop working.
Internally Exchange doesn't care about the SMTP domain as it doesn't use it. If a user enters [email protected]l then Exchange will recognise it and change it to the address as it appears in the GAL.
