  • How to restrict 'Choose Sender' option in Outlook 2003

    Hi,

We just find out, any user can send an email on behalf of any other user. While composing a new e-mail, we just need to choose 'Options' and then click on the 'From' button. This might create a security issue.

Is there any way we can block this feature? Thanks for your help.

That is not a default setting. Therefore something has been changed.
I would also check to see whether the users can open any other mailbox on the server.

You need to look at a user account and see what account/group has Send As permissions and depending on the version of Exchange in use Full Mailbox Access. Those are the two permissions that allow a user to send as another.

Do ensure that you are doing "Send on Behalf of" which is another permissions altogether.

However do not start removing permissions unless you are 100% sure what they do. A common mistake is people removing "Everyone" from the permissions and then finding themselves locked out of the system or mailboxes.
