  • installing a second OWA server

we need to implement a new software for OWA 2003.

we have already a working FE-BE topology, for testing purposes a second OWA is needed.

i have a new VM ready to use,now im not quite sure how to configure the OWA for use.

i want to use it as the first one with all the features. in DNS,the A and PTR record is done.

right now,i cannot ping nor access it. can someone help me with this pls?

can you ping the IP address of that virtual machine?
If yes, is the DNS name resolved to the correct IP address?

IS the problem resolved, or is it just pingable?

Re: installing a second OWA server

            Greetings.

Did you ever get this resolved? I have the exact same need - We currently have an Exchange 2003 Backend Server with an Exchange 2003 OWA Front-End Server. I would like to install an additional Exchange 2003 (or Exchange 2007, if possible) OWA server as an additional Web Access to Exchange. I believe you can only have one FrontEnd Server though, so I'm guessing the new OWA server cannot be set as Front End.

            Any help GREATLY appreciated!

Re: installing a second OWA server

Where did you get the idea that you can only have one frontend server? That is not the case at all. You can have as many frontend servers as you like.

The common errors made with frontend servers are the mismatched versions, so the backend server is higher than the frontend, and trying to put a frontend server in a DMZ or have a firewall between the two servers.
