Is "Remove Exchange Attributes" option also completely deletes mailbox?
I have used this three weeks ago but now I can’t see a user’s mailbox on “System manager” mailbox list so can’t reconnect it. Clean up setting for deleted mailbox is after 30 days.

    http://searchexchange.techtarget.com/ori...
On this database it says: "...he user loses mailbox access, but the mailbox remains in the store where you can link it to the same or another user."

But no, it seems, it removes mailbox immediately.
Is there a way to find this mailbox?

But I can't see mailbox in “System manager" so I can’t reconnect. “Remove exchange attributes” option probably destroys mailbox.

          Hi,

If you delete the AD user then mail-box still remain there and you can re-connect this mail-box with a new user.

But "Remove Exchange Attributes" is some thing else and we use this option only if we are unable to reconnect the mail box after a disaster recovery or if any attribute is not properly matched while using Active Directory Connector.

Tanks for your concern kapilsharma11, and tanks for the advice.

I have created a test account and create a mailbox for it. After disabling, used “remove exchange attributes”. Now test user’s mailbox still remains in mailbox list and there is no deleted flag sign on mailbox, so this mailbox must remain forever.

But why other (which removed three weeks ago) mailboxes are wiped out, I can’t understand.

do you have the 'remove mailboxes after a complete backup' thing checked?

i remove the attributes all the time, then reconnect the inbox to another account all the time.

              for me, works either way.
