  • Users unable to open attachemnt

    Hi,

    We have the following setup:

    O/S: Windows 2003 SP1.
    Exchange Server: 2003 Ent SP2
    Number of exch Server: 56
    AdminGroup:1
    Routing Group:1

    Problem: All of a sudden none of the users on a single server were unable to open attachemnts.

    Res: We restarted the server and it started working.

    I saw the following error in event viewer:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store
    Event Category: General
    Event ID: 7200
    User: N/A
    Computer: xyz
    Description:
    Background thread FDoBuildCatalog halted on database "Storage Group2\STRGP6" due to error code 0x80004005.

    Could you help me to find out that why it happened?

    its a dB error....

    if i had to take a stab at it, you have not excluded these directories from your AV scan client.

    verify that these exchange directories are excluded from scans, and you shouldnt see that error anymore.

    or maybe im totally wrong cause im just making things up. i dont know...

    but seriously, check the AV file exclusions.
    its easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

      No all the databse and transaction logs are already excluded.

      In-fact we have dedicated drives for exchange and the entire drives are excluded from scanning.

      But any way thanks for your intrest...........

        what about the exchange directory in the "program files" directory? that is what i specifically meant...

        like:
        C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr

        is this directory excluded as well?
        its easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

          I checked and found that C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr is also excluded.

            i have recieved several 7200 error messages, but i am not running any antivirus software on our exchange servers. i have not found any solution or cause for this issue.
