Yes, you can do it. You can enable and disable the POP3 protocol on the Exchange Features tab of the user account properties. You can do this user by user or do it all at once using a tool like ADModify. the following link explains how to use it and where to get it.

You have to enable POP3 (Port 110) through your firewall to your email server.

So what happens when the user tries to use Outlook from outside? What happens if the user tests the account settings?

              Hi,

              Try to get me !!!

              from user location

              (1) c:\>Telnet mail.domainname.com 110 ---------OK
              (2) c:\>Telnet mail.domainname.com 25 ---------ERROR

              501 Domain must resolve
              Connection to host lost.
              :\>

If Smtp error will resolved than all should be resolved as point of my view.

              what is your Idea ?

                Re: POP3 on single exchange

The error that you are receiving is not an Exchange message.
Is SMTP traffic from outside answered by Exchange, or by something else (appliance for example). If it is Exchange, do you have any antispam features that are doing reverse lookups or anything like that?

Also consider that SMTP sending will be patchy at best. Many ISPs block outbound SMTP traffic from their networks and require the sender to use their own servers. They may then have further restrictions on the use of their servers, to domains they know about.

                Simon.
