  • SMTP Session

    Hi,

    Kindly assist me :

What is the 'default smtp virtual server' for? Under Exchange System Manager, servers, protocols, SMTP, under the sessions, I could see some external IP Domains been stuck there for as long as 900 seconds. Do i need to terminate it or it will be terminated automatically? WIll it cause my Exchange server connection?

    Please help. Thanks.

    Re: SMTP Session

Sessions hanging around is not unusual, Exchange will clean them up automatically. However it can also be a sign of a spammer attacking your server or something interfering with the SMTP traffic stopping the sessions from ending correctly.
If you have anything else on the server or something in front of the Exchange server scanning the traffic (firewall for example) then that can cause that problem.
