  • OWA 2003 - URLs within messages redirect to the login page.

    Windows 2003
    Exchange 2003
    Forms-Based Authentication

If a message has a URL within it, clicking the URL pops up a new window but loads the login page. Attempting to login again doesn't work.

The log indicates that the URL is being processed and receiving the parameter but I believe insufficent priviledges are keeping it from processing. Access to "redir.asp" is being blocked which is why the request is being redirected to the login page.

Any idea what accounts need access to "redir.asp" or what else might be the cause?

    Thanks.

    Hello everyone....

If you're interested here's the solution to the above problem, and like I thought it was a permission issue.

    http://support.microsoft.com/default...oduct=exch2003

Here's the scenario of relevance from that page:

Method 2: When You Receive a Message
If you receive a "Page cannot be displayed" result when you click a URL in an e-mail message, select and then delete the portion of the URL that appears before "http://Web site name" from the Address bar in your Web browser, and then click Go.

If you are prompted for credentials when you click a hyperlink to an external Web site, follow these steps:
    1. In Internet Services Manager, view the properties of the "Exchweb" virtual directory.
    2. On the Directory Security tab, click the Edit button under anonymous access and authentication control.
    3. Click to select the Basic Authentication check box, include the default domain name, and then click OK.
    4. When prompted to select which "child nodes" to include, click the bin node.
