  • RPC HTTP topology advice needed

    Hi,

we have a global network that is expanding. The main part of the network is in north america and this is where the front end RPC HTTP server iand their backend as well. Our new office in Australia has joined the network with an exchange server , fully part of the domain. Our question is...the local guys in Australia do not want to go via north america just to access their mailboxes...can we access the exchange mailboxes via RPC over HTTP directly without going via north america...ie users in Australia do not go via the North America front end. Looked at the technet article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb124604.aspx but I can't see my answer. There must be a simple answer to this. We only have one exchange server in the Australian office.

    No problem with that.
You will have to make the registry changes by hand to the single server but other than that it will be fine. Buy an SSL certificate for that server etc.

You may want to ensure that the external name being used in Oz works throughout your network, using internal DNS, but nothing in your question gives me concern that it will not work.

    Simon.

Why use Outlook via HTTP? Would this be for the remote users? That way the remote users in Australia can use Outlook via HTTP by proxy to the Exchange server in Australia?
