  • Exchange and DNS question

    Hi all,

I have a question about reverse dns lookup and Exchange.

I have an exchange box that routes all of my mail in and out.
I am having some issues with e-mail that is going out and I think it is related to reverse dns lookups.

SMTP Users send out e-mail swith a [email protected]com e-mail address but my mx record list my exchange box is mail.company.U]net[/U]. is this a potential problem?

I hope I am making sense ,when I ask this question.

    Thanks

    Re: Exchange and DNS question

What your MX records are doesn't matter.
As long as everything matches, then you are fine. So the server should have a matching DNS and reverse DNS record and should be announcing itself as the same name.

The DNS records can be in a different domain without any issues.

    Simon.
