  • Question about moving Exchange 2003 Server Computer Account

    Hello,

Due to certain reasons, the need arose to move our Exchange Server Computer Account to a different OU in our AD.
Iíve been looking for information addressing possible risks and/or issues regarding such a move, but found no article/post/etc targeting this specific matter.

Will moving the Exchange 2003 Server computer account to a different OU cause any trouble?

    Thank you for your time,
    Syang.

Re: Question about moving Exchange 2003 Server Computer Account

The move itself has no risk, BUT, you have to look at the policies affecting its new location in AD.
As you might know, policies are applied to Domains, sites, ou's and local. So by moving your computer to a different OU, your computer might get different policies applied. You'll need to check its current policies, and the policies which will be applied after the move.

Great tool for that is GPMC (group policy management console), its has a planning mode which will help you see which policies will be applied on a computer in certain location, without ectually moving that computer.
