  • Can you replicate an Exchange server 2003

    Hi

Is it possible to replicate an Exchange server 2003 standard - so there is an on-line backup that can be brough into live operation easily and quickly if the main one should fail - or even auto fail over - what options are there?

If so - is there any simple, step by step instartuction you can point me to please.

Thanks for any help or advice

No, you can image your server or create a virtual clone, but it will not be up to date.

off course you can, but it's not what you normally call "replication". it's called exchange clustering and in order to implement it you'll need at least two servers - one is "active", second is "passive". both need to be Server 2003 enterprise edition. same goes for exchange - enterprise edition. you will also need a special hardware and a SAN (or SCSI - if you're tight on budget).
you can read more about it here
      good luck...

You will need a third party product to do this on Exchange Server 2003 or earlier. There are many on the market. The one we use is DoubleTake by NSI Software. More info can be found at the following link:
