  • Problem with installing Exchange from original disks

    Hi

When installing Exchange from the original disk onto a 2003 server with SP2 we get:-

Exchange Server 2003 has a known compatibility issue with this version of Windows. For more infromation refer to .....

The options are to Continue or Cancel

Do I can continue and then apply Exchange SP2 - will all be well or are there additional steps involved or a different approach.

    Thanks for any advice.

I got the same message and had no problems, so yes you can continue and then apply Exchange SP2.

You always get that error. It is generated by Windows and not Exchange. The warning is about something specific related to clustering if I recall correctly. Most users can simply accept the warning and carry on.

I think the work around is to install Exchange (SP0) and immediately update it to SP1 or SP2. As has been said, this is a well known issue and as long as you bring Exchange up to date before working with it, it should not cause you any problems.
