  • slow mailbox size change limit respond

    Hi,

I've W2K3 sp1 and EX2K3 sp2 and i've changed the database size to 75GB by adding the key that Microsoft say.
now my problem is i don't know if it's related to the 75GB database size but when i set a user mailbox size limit it's taking along time to apply on the server. why?
    Thx

The limit is need to be set in the background on the AD, therefore, check the connection of the exchange with the AD using netdiag, dcdiag, nslookup.
Did you restart the Information store after the registry changes?

As I said before, you should check the connection between the Exchange & AD.
If it's up to 15 min it's OK, if not check the connection or right click the RUS and choose "Update now".

Re: slow mailbox size change limit respond

Mailbox size limit changes can take two hours to take effect. While you can change it to a shorter time I strongly suggest that you do not as it will bring the server to its knees. The server will be constantly refreshing its cache if you change the setting which will increase the load on the server and the domain controllers.

Re: slow mailbox size change limit respond

Oh and the change to the information store size would not have an effect on this, and I doubt rebuilding the recipient policy will also improve things as the size of the mailbox has nothing to do with the recipient policy - it is a setting stored in the domain.
