  • Reconnecting a Mailbox to a User in diff domain

We have two domains in the same forest. mydomain.local and theirdomain.local. We have Exchange 2003 and is the only domain hosting exchange.

I have reconnected a deleted mailbox on our Exchange server to a theirdomain.local user. The operation completed successfully, but I can't get the user to connect to the mailbox using Outlook. It says "the name cannot be matched to a name in the address list", yet the user can use OWA just fine!!

I checked that Global Address List through Outlook, and this new user and mailbox aren't listed in there.....

    Suggestions, please?

If the user can use OWA then it is probably replication time. If you have only just made the reconnection then it wouldn't surprise me that it wasn't working just yet.

Sometimes the easiest thing is to start from scratch. Instead of trying to get the user to connect to the restored mailbox why not just use exmerge to export the mailbox to a pst file, then create a new mailbox for this user and use exmerge to import the pst file to the new mailbox.
