  • Exchange Error: SMTP could not connect to any DNS server

    Ok the situation is:

Exchange Server on Windows 2003 Standard Edition. Email is working fine but everyday i get these errors in event log:

    Source: SMTPSVC
    Event ID: 2013
SMTP could not connect to any DNS server. Either none are configured, or all are down.

    Source: SMTPSVC
    Event ID: 2012
SMTP could not connect to the DNS server '192.168.xx.xx'. The protocol used was 'UDP'. It may be down or inaccessible.

The server did originally have two IP's assigned to the one NIC but i have since removed this.

    Can anyone shed some light?

    TIA
    Matty

Re: Exchange Error: SMTP could not connect to any DNS server

What is the IP address listed in the error message?
Is it a valid DNS Server?

Make sure that you have valid DNS Servers listed in the DNS configuration on the network card and that there is NOT any DNS Servers listed on the SMTP virtual server.
