  • stm file is still big after offline defrag

    Hello everyone
    i have windows server 2003 + exchange 2003 stan + sp2
the priv1.edb is 18g and stm is 74g
i cleaned some mails and did an offline defrag
and for this moment i dont keep deleted items and mailboxes
    now the files are :
    priv.edb 15g and priv.stm is 63g
i think that the stm is too big
is there a way to shrink it?
    thanks
    Good Luck

      not at all

i thought about exmerge the mailboxes into pst then kill the database and then import the pst
i know that i loose the singel instance but it will be much smaller then the current.
      what do you say?
      Good Luck

If oyu had Exchange 2003 Ent, everything was different of course.....

        But
You can Exmerge, but before I would have try to restore the DB to the RSG and see what is the size of the files when you restore them.

Anyway, I would have test the Exmerge and PST import in LAB if possible in order to check if this process will help.
