  • Exchange 2003 - Can recieve but sent emails are delayed

Just seeing if anyone knows what this issue could be.....

Basically i've set a new server up for a client and their use Exchange2003. They are using SMTP & POP3, recieving emails is working fine. Very fast. BUT sending emails it seems to delay them for about 30mins roughly.

The emails don't sit in the Outlook they just send as normal with no error report.

    Hmmmm. Any ideas welcome.

Just noticed this only happens with external emails. Internal are instant.

After you have confirmed a mail has been sent and received externally check the message tracker to see what it's been doing for the last minute. I.e. was it sent to the ISP's SMTP server or has it been sitting on your server for some reason.

Post back and let us know

      Thanks

Posting the error message may help!

Do you have message tracking enabled? It is not enabled by default.
Do you send email directly by DNS or via a smart host?
The delay may not be with your server, it could be further up the chain, particularly if you are using a smart host (such as your ISPs SMTP Server).
