  • Require subject in any outgoing email

    In Exchange 2003, is there a way to require users to fill in a subject line before an email is sent?

    You can send mail without a subject (as you probably know ). I'll say with a good degree of confidence that there are no settings within Exchange such that you can force a subject line to be present.

    So I reckon you'll need to do this within Outlook. If you are handy with VBA (I'm not that handy), or you have people that can, then a script I've found for you has the following fragment:

    'CHECK FOR BLANK SUBJECT LINE
    If Item.Subject = "" Then
    bCancelSend = MsgBox("This message does not have a subject." & vbNewLine & _
    "Do you wish to continue sending anyway?", _
    vbYesNo + vbExclamation, "No Subject") = vbNo
    End If
    Using this, or something like this should get you on your way. Using this, it shouldn't be too hard to modify this so that the blank subject line sender gets no choice.

      Thanks, but I'm not at all handy with VBA script. I'll do some research on how to make this work though.
