  • No Access to OWA from inside the network

    Hi

Couple of days ago my server crashed and we lost connection to OWA from inside the network. Actually we cannot access anyour website. They can be accessed from outside. When I try the local server's IP 192.168.16.2/exchange it works fine but not with the Public IP. I have got 10 users on XP Pro and SBS 2003. Users have Zone Alarm ISS installed on their computers. I tried to access OWA from my laptop (no firewall). No effect.

    Thanks,

sometimes when i loose connectivity, the nokia checkpoint doesnt "see" the connection. aftr i rerun the policy, everything is on again.

    go figure.

how do you translate/NAT the address?

When I try the local server's IP 192.168.16.2/exchange it works fine but not with the Public IP.
do you mean inside the network? i cant use the public IP to connect internally. it gets routed back internally, as there is no need to NAT addresses on the local net.
its easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

I would be very surprised if your external IP address worked internally. Most firewalls don't allow the traffic to be routed back on themselves.

If you are using an external name (host.domain.com) then you need to configure a split DNS system so that the external name resolves to the internal IP address when on the LAN.
