  • Exchange has problems after user is disabled and then re-enabled.

We recently had disabled a users ID in the AD of our windows 2003 Server.
We then re-enabled that user again and re-enabled their mailbox in exchange 2003. We then tried to log in as this users account in OWA, as well as Outlook 2003, either way it fails, when attempting to login from OWA, it fails with an Authentication error. We changed her password in the AD and it continues to give us the same problem, is there some sort of replication issue between the 2003 server and the exchange server? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Exchange has problems after user is disabled and then re-enabled.

If you disable an account and then enable it again, it can take a few hours before the account is available again. This is due to the way that Exchange caches information.

I don't tend to disable accounts where there could be a chance the account will be re-enabled again. Change the password to something long which will stop the account from being accessed.

funny thing, i had the same thing going on this morning. i had to get some emails ffrom a former employee, and after enabling the account same thing...

did it give you the "outlook couldnt open the set of folders..." message as well?

OWA behaved just like your did.

      ***EDIT***

so how ever long it has been sice the last post in this catagory, the account works. i ran RUS and waited till now. all is good.
