  • Disable read recipts from sending out

    Hi,

    Exchange 2003, Outlook 2000 user

Is it possible to disable read receipts from being sent back to people who send mail to our domain?

I've tried at the server level, thinking if the Global Setting "Allow Automatic Replies" is un-checked then it wouldn't respond back, but it does. Nothing in outlook seemed to work either.

Is this possible? What am I missing?

    Thanks!

Can't be done on a server level.
What I tend to do is block it using group policy.

It can't be done from the server level, but can be done from each individual workstation by changing the following settings in Outlook. Depending on the size of your organization this may or may not be a large task.

Tools, Options, E-Mail Options (button), Tracking Options

Then change from "Always send a response" to either "Never send a response" or "Ask me before sending a response".

However, this will prevent all automatic sending of read receipts, including internal, so you may want to check with the PTB to make sure this is what they want.

      Good luck!
