  • changing user name has no effect

    hi all,

    maybe a stupid problem:

i have an exchange user and when i change his name (because of a type error) in active directory nothing happens.

when i start outlook and i push th 'To' button i still see in the list the 'old' name.

the display name, however, has been changed correctly.

    any ideas ??

    thanks in advance !

When did you change the user? Today?
Are you using Outlook 2003 in cached mode? If so it can take 24 hours or more before the change is seen.

      thank you for the reply,

it was indeed a stupid questuin, i have renamed the user, just by right-clicking and choose rename...but then i had to wait for some time and at a sudden the changed name appeared in the list !!

      problem solved !

      thanks for the time !

WRONG!! It was NOT a stupid question. A stupid question is one that you do not ask because that is the one you don't get an answer to. Here you have asked something you didn't know about, received an answer and gained knowledge from it. So, not a stupid question.

If you are having to force recipient update services to run, then something is wrong with your server. You should be able to make a change and within a few minutes the change is live.
