  • Outlook Password not saved when configured through RPC over https

    HI,
I am trying to drive MS Outlook client to send/receive mail through a vbscript.
For that I have configured the outlook profile (8 profiles) through RPC over https but whenever I tried to open outlook it is asking for network password.Though "remember" my password option is coming and I have checked that many times still it is asking for the password every time I tried to log in. I have checked the windows "user password storing utility", in there the entry is there and outlook is taking the username but not password.

Is there any option in outlook by which I can save the password and outlook automatically connect to the exchange server without asking for the password?
or through programming can I enter the network password?

I will be grateful if you can provide any solution for this problem.

    thanks

Re: Outlook Password not saved when configured through RPC over https

Outlook needs to authenticate to the Exchange server.
If the machine that you are running Outlook on is part of the same domain as the Exchange server then you can change the configuration not to require authentication - it uses pass through authentication.

Otherwise there are methods to save the password using Windows, however you will still get a prompt - you cannot make it transparent.

Re: Outlook Password not saved when configured through RPC over https

      Thanks Simon.
I have tried with windows "Stored user password Password" utility but username is taking from it but not the password.Don't know why.

How can I configure the pass through authentication in MS outlook?
Also, can I provide the password through any script. I mean when it will prompt for password, the script will automatically feed the password to it.

      Thanks in advance.

Pass through authentication will work if...

        - you have integrated and basic authentication enabled on the /rpc virtual directory in IIS Manager

        - you have NTLM authentication configured in Outlook under RPC over HTTPS settings

        - the machine is a member of the same domain/forest as the Exchange server.
