  • Send Mail / Pop Mail Coexist - Exchange 2003 Server

Good Day, All, doing a migration for a cleint that has two mail domains, One the have hosted on a sendmail box and the other the host on the web. When exchange is installed, i will move the MX records for both to point to the Exchange box. The problem comes in because i am not migrating all the email accounts to exchange at one time, we will pilot the move 25 users per move.

    My questions are as follows:

    1) How do i receive mail for those persons not migrated to exchange.
    2) How do these persons send / receive mail from persons in their SMTP domains

I figure the for the sendmail exchange will have to be a SMTP relay, correct?

Please inform me how to accomplish this.

What you are trying to do is share the SMTP Address space. There are a number of options for that with Exchange.

This KB article explains what is required.
