  • Mounting store

    Hello!

    Just a quick question...

We have exchange store database (5 GB - priv1.edb). Is it possible to mount this store on DIFFERENT exchange server (we are upgrading) which is the same version (2003)?

Can there be any problems at all?

Database is regularry defragmented and maintained...

    Greetings,
    Gregor

    Re: Mounting store

    * You can take the DB after dismounting it (clean state), take the 2 DB files (priv1.edb+ priv1.stm) and copy them to other server, but the next details should stay the same as the source Exchange server:
    1) Exchange Organization name
    2) Administrative Group name
    3) Storage Group name
    4) Store name

    Remember:
If you copy the DB only - you will loose the Free/Busy info which located in the System PF.

Then you can reconnect the mailboxes to the users.

I would run NT backup as well to append the transaction logs.

When you intent dismount the DB - the Logs are committed automatically to the DB....

Huh is it possible to restore the DB different way?

Like MySQL or domain (DNS) replication for example...

U give the master exchange and then slave connects and replicates itself.. That would be nice

Why not using the "Move mailbox" option:

(The steps are the same as migration from Exch2000 to Exch2003)
