What is Maximum no. of Storage Groups per Exchange 2003 Ent. Server.

According to "Sybex Mastering Exchange Server 2003" it`s 20 SGs per server & 6 DBs per SG.
    but,
According to "Sybex MCSE/MCSA Series Exchange" & "MS-Press 70-284 training" it`s 4 SGs per server & 5 DBs per SG.

    Please Help.
    Cheers!!

    Re: Storage Groups per Server

    Exchange 2000/2003 Std/SBS - 1 SG > 1 MBX Store + 1 PF Store + up to 3 additional PF Stores = 5 Stores in total.

Exchange 2000/2003 Ent - 4 SG > Up to 5 Stores in each SG = 20 Stores in total.

In Exchange 2003 Std/SBS/Ent there is also a 5th SG called the Recovery Storage Group which can hold up to 5 MBX Stores, but these cannot be used to connect mailboxes, just for recovery purposes.

          Re: Storage Groups per Server

The book is wrong. Sounds like poor technical reviews or a typo somewhere.

No version of Exchange cannot support that number of Storage Groups.

Exchange 2000/2003 enterprise allows a maximum of four storage groups each consisting of a number five databases (usually four mailbox stores and one public folder store).

Exchange 2007 standard edition is the same as Enterprise Edition of 2003.
Exchange 2007 Enterprise edition takes the maximum number of SGs to 50.
