  • How to filter PIF images in Exchange 2003

    Hello,
We have newly deployed Exchange Server 2003 STD edition running on Windows Server 2003 R2 box. I want to know how to block messages containing ".PIF" images? These mails are always nothing but spams. Any accurate 100 % working solution ? I found lotsa links at Google but i affraid if theose solutions dont work,
I'll get kicked from my company. As we have only 1 LIVE Exchange server. I cant think of doing any R & D.

Anybody did this task before? If yes pls tell the step by step process.

    Thanx in advance,
    Regards,
    Amey Abhyankar.

Exchange cannot block them on its own. You will have to use third party software. Your antivirus software should be able to block file types.

Be aware though that all email administrators are fighting against image based spam - there is no one fix solution for them still.

I found that using Greylisting stops most of the spam, including image-based spam. I suggest using it as another layer of defence. I've got an article about that on my site. Look it up.
