  • Is a partial download of the Global Address List, to Outlook 2003 cached mode possibl

    Hi,

    I have this Scenario:

Windows 2003 Server SP1, with AD
    Exchange 2003 Server SP1

    Windows ISA server 2004

    WinXP SP2
Outlook 2003 SP2 clients, running RPC over HTTPS.

Our AD contains several customers/companies, located in the same domain, separated by OU's and a customer code in the Custom Attributes field.

We have managed to apply a filter so that the customers cannot see eachothers entries in the Global Address List when they are online. All is swell, BUT, If they download the offline address book, they download the full Global Address List, which allows them to see ALL the other customers users and mailaddresses.

Is there a way to configure the download of the offline address book, so that it only downloads/filters out, one companys specific users/addresslist?

    regards,
    Bent J

You have to create Offline Address Books for each client, then adjust the permission on each OAB so that access is restricted.

This article at msexchange.org goes in to how to do that.

      Mission Accomplished

      Hi,

thanks for the tip. Just what I was looking for!

However, I had to dig up an additional article on microsoft.com to achieve this project.

"How to create an offline address list that contains a filtered copy of the global address list"
      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/280435/EN-US/

This article tells you how to create an address list in the All address lists container, based on the same filtering to use for customerspecific Global Address Lists.

This "All address list" was the one I had to use in the MsExchUseOAB setting on each user.
