  • Creating distribution group error (was: [email protected])

I have migrated one of our customers to Exchange. I need to create a distribution group for [email protected]. AD is telling me there is a user account already named service and that this cannot be done. My temporary work around is to setup a single user to receive mail for [email protected], but we really need to get this pushed out to multiple users. Any ideas? Where is the service user?

    Thanks - Eric

    Re: [email protected]

Can you create a group with a different name and then add [email protected] as an alternate email address?

"This issue can occur if an object in Active Directory already has the address that you are attempting to add to the user's e-mail addresses list"
      Method One
Filtering part of that E-mail Address on Exchange Recipients with a New Address List.

      or next...
      Method Two
Use 'Network Monitor trace' to capture data during the error to determine the LDAP: ProtocolOP: SearchResponse information. Then search for this object in the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.
