• Find Messages- <subject hidden>

    Hi,

When in exchange.mmc I go to Console Root > Domain > Servers > [my server] > Queues > Small Business SMTP concetor and click Find Messages it comes up with all messages in the queue. Now here it displays the Subject as <subject is hidden>.

Is it possible to configure Exchange to display the message subject here ?

    Thanks

    brian

Try to configure Message Tracking, including tracking of the subject. Don't forget to "delete the log files older than..." setting.

You just need to enable the option "Enable subject logging and display". It is on the First tab "General" of the Properties of the server in ESM. You don't need to enable message tracking, but it is always a good idea to do so.

Actually I never tried to just enable the subject logging without the message tracking V.

          Good to know.

Hi Thanks again for this information guys…

To continue this thread in a slightly different direction.

What benefit does enabling message tracking have over not having it and saving resources ect ?

Thanks again for all the good quality help !

              Re: Find Messages- <subject hidden>

Enabeling Message Tracking will place some I/O on your disk subsystem (due to the possibly extensive logging), and depending on the masses of email being sent it might cause some small CPU load. I usually find it to be a small price to pay.

                Re: Find Messages- <subject hidden>

I switched it on yesterday and it has not really put any extra stress that i have noticed on the server.

Although I already have found it to be an advantage and a really usefull feature.

Thanks for the answers guys and the great forum Mr P
