how to do maintenance to the exchange database if it exceeds the 16gb limit and i already extend to 1 GB in the registry, how to defrag the database?
how do i reduce the database and keeping it from exceeding the 16 gb limit?
how come the user can exceed the limit of storing emails more that 100mb that i had limited?
i only have a user around 60 -70 how with a limit of 100 mb inbox, how come the exchange database take up so much that can exceed up to our 16 gb exchange database?

    1. Why do you need to replicate the DB to another server? if you want to this for DRP or lab testing, you can use the next link:
    http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/...ry-Switch.html
    2. If you have Exchange 2003 Ent. version SP2, you can raise the limit up to 75GB (although it is not recommanded this size of DB):
    http://www.petri.com/change_store_si...ex2003_sp2.htm
If you don't have Exchange 2004 ent., need to defrag the DB in order to reduce it size:
    http://www.petri.com/defragment_exch..._databases.htm
In order to keep the DB in size less then 16GB - limit the user's mailbox or just upgrade to Exchange 2003 Ent.
    3. sounds weird - how do you know that the user has exceeded the 100MB limit? read the next article, where all the limits are:
    http://www.petri.com/setting_size_li...r_messages.htm
    4. The Exchange DB keeps deleted items for 7 days (backwards) and mailboxes for 30 days:
    http://usdt.mylivevault.com/webhelp/...ge_2K_exch.asp
In addition if user has deleted old items (email, calendar, tasks...) the DB size doesn't decrease it size until defrag (see 2).

I'm sure tkolber meant this instead:
