  • Messages are not delivering.

Am running exchange 2000 with outlook 2000. All was fine until of recent when mails stopped sending. Incoming mails are fine, however when you send outside the organisation, 95% of all the mails just queue and end up not sending with all sorts of NDR's but mostly the 4.4.7 (could not send in the time limit specified).

The 5% that is successful take almost 6 hours to send.
I really do not know whats happening, could it be that am virus infected? though the scans show nothing of sorts.
By the way am running Trend Micro AV.

    All the help is appreciated.

    1. check with your ISP if there is any network load issue.
    2. Are you using any mailrelay system for outgoing emails? if so - check the systems for SMTP / Virus scanning for outside.
    3. Did you try reboot Exchange & DC's?
    4. Check the connection to DCs using Netdiag, Dcdiag, Nslookup.

Did the suggested tests and all was fine, so decided to give the IPS's a call again.
This time i managed convincing them to come and do some tests at my end, once the tests were done, was told the problem is with them (ISP).
Today, the problem has been sorted out and my mail is back to normal.

      Thank you for the help.
