  • Exchange 2003 DR

I would like to build some sort of fail-safe mechanism to my Exchange server apart from having a backup.

I dont have any Microsoft clustering expertise and dont want to indulge in the complexities of building a cluster.

I was wondering if I could replicate Exchange data to another server say every hour or two. This second server would be placed in an alternative physical location.

I know there are some expensive tools such as WanSync and Veritas volume replicator to do this kind of asynchronous data replication but I was wondering if there was some non expsensive or built in Microsoft mechanism to do the same stuff.

    Thanks in Advance.

You can use cluster continuous Reaplication feature or DPM from Microsoft.

Or buy backup exec 10.0d with CPS feature which help you to replicate exchange data to a hard disk of CPS server.

Hi thanks for the reply but CCR is available Exchange 2007 onwards if I am not mistaken and DPM again is quite expensive so is Veritas.

      Any other tips ?

You could have a look at a system called Neverfail.
