  • Exchange 03 trying to communicate with Pocket PC

    Hi
Dunno if this is the right section of the forum but hopefully someone can help me out....

We have just instaleld Exchange 03 with all the OMA functions enabled...with no real problems....

The PDAs we use now need to have there pocket outlooks working....

We connect over GPRS then VIA a VPN link and the error we get is 0x080004005.

I cant find anything that says what it is !

We are trying to move away from blackberries and have the pocket pc consatntly sync over GPRS and feed the email to their handset !

They all talk happily to the PC's just wont with the Exchange box...

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks
    G

    That is a permissions error.

Make sure that you do not have anonymous authentication enabled on the /exchange, /oma or /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync virtual directories in IIS Manager.

Also ensure that require SSL is not enabled on those directories either.

With Exchange ActiveSync it is easier to troubleshoot with OMA to begin with. If OMA works then EAS will often work as well.

If you browse to https://host.domain.com/oma (where host.domain.com is the external name of your Exchange server and the name on the SSL certificate) do you get an SSL prompt? If so, EAS will not work.
If you don't, then you should get a username/password prompt. Enter username in the format domain\username and then the password. Does OMA load? If not, look on the Exchange server's event viewer to see if there is anything logged.

        Is the feature enabled?
Lose the VPN link - what happens if you connect directly?

Another thing you could try is to get hold of the emulator and try it internally.

          Agree with Simon.

          Get the emulator here:

          http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Install it, use it internally, then see if it works from outside. Also, it's worth trying without SSL at all (on the device), that'll rule out some error possibilities.

            HI

SSL isnt enabled anywhere as far as I can see....

            http://"ourserver"/oma works
            http://"ourserver"/exchange works

but pocket outlook refuses to connect....

We use the VPN as its a handy way through our firewall...ill try without tho...

Also trying to use WIFI to conenct I get the CONNMGR_31 error which is odd seeing as we aint using certificates at the mo !
