  • setup Exchange 2003 migration

    Hello,
    I'm doing a Exchange install EXCHANGE 2003 my question is
    When going through the setup wizard it promts me to check either Exchange 5.5,
    Exchange 2000, Exchange 2003 should i check EXCHANGE 5.5 cause i have it on the old mail server for it to mirgrate to Exchange 2003? i didn't check anyhting until i know what to check.. is that a migration tool ?

      If you are installing the Exchange 2003 server in to a domain that already has an Exchange 5.5 server, then you should choose the option to co-exist. Then go through the standard procedure for migrating to the new server.

      That is of course presuming that you are already on an Active Directory domain and have the Active Directory connectors configured for the Exchange 5.5 server.

        no it's not on a AD domain it's still has NT domain in which i want to create a new exchange server and mirgrate exchange mail into the new 2003 exchange thats where i'm at and going thru the install wizard on exchange 2003 it ask me to check either exchange 5.5, win2k or exchnage 2003?...... no it's not a AD domain yet

          You can't have Exchange 200x without AD.
          Therefore you cannot install Exchange 2003. You will have to upgrade the domain to Active Directory first and have at least one Windows 200x domain controller before Exchange 2003 can be installed.
