  • Best place to set Smarthost?

    Hi all

Where is the best place to set a Smarthost for outbound mail?

Is it on the SMTP virtual server of the bridgehead or on the Outbound connector?

    Thanks in advance

I hope I understood your question, but in general, there is now difference if you are use the SMTP Virtual Server or the SMTP (Internet) connector to configure it, because the SMTP connector relays on the SMTP Virtual Server and actually you need the SMTP connector only for some very unique configuration:

although, I think that it will be better to configure it on the SMTP Connector because this is the first connector that you will check (more friendly interface).

Hmmm - seems like you are undecided!

Is it possible to put multiple smart hosts in either so we have some resiliance?

Re: Best place to set Smarthost?

        Here the answer:
This value (smart host configuration on the SMTP Connector - under "connectors"), overrides the smart host setting on the "Delivery" tab of the SMTP viertual server properties.

Taken from the help of the SMTP connector General tab.

Unless you want to send EVERY piece of email that does not belong to THAT server to the smart host, then you better NOT put it on the SMTP VS. Use the SMTP Conector instead.
