  • Mac and Exchange 2003

This is a bit of a curly one. I am trying to connect Mac Mail (and Entourage) to an SBS 2003 server, particularly for email.

Even though the usernames and passwords are correct (as confirmed on Windows machines) the mail programs keep prompting for a username or password?.

What authentication method is used (I have tried all the options on the mac mail clients. password, NTLM, Kerboros 4 & 5) without success.

Am I able to modify the authentication method on a per user basis in exchange and A/D??..

I have managed to get the mac to see files on the server by altering the local security policy on the server to not use encryption, this could possibly be the same thing but on exchange??.

Anyone who has an idea please share it with me, it is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Iím honoured to have been selected for the SMB 150 list for 2013. This is the third time in succession (no logo available for 2011) that I have been honoured with this award.

Steven Ė go to http://simultaneouspancakes.com/Lessons and search on Entourage to find the correct link.

          Thanks!

That replaces the dead link about connecting Entourage to SBS 2003

            Re: Mac and Exchange 2003

Thanks Everyone for your help and suggestions,

In the end I worked out that you need to install the SBS certificate (found in the client apps folder on the SBS server) in the X509 Anchor keychain of a MAC before it will connect up to exchange or Imap. If you don't install the certificate the MAC will just keep prompting for the password (in either MAC mail or Entourage).

Bit of a summarised way of connecting a MAC to exchange but it does provide the vital information.

If anyone has this issue and needs further info please PM or email me.

            Thanks,

            Cogent
